Oslo, November 22, 2007.  Norconsult, a leading engineering company, has entered into a contract with IntelliSearch. The agreement entails rollout of the award-winning IntelliSearch Enterprise Search platform to Norconsult’s 1300 employees located in 9 countries. Norconsult’s ambition is to create a productive system support environment enabling increased collaboration amongst their technical staff.

 

Norconsult is a leading engineering consultancy specializing in multi-disciplinary technical engineering services to manufacturing and construction industries. Norconsult views fast and relevant information retrieval as key to productivity and knowledge management – especially given the company’s large information pool available to its engineering staff. Norconsult will use IntelliSearch Enterprise as their corporate tool for information access to technical drawings, specifications, quotations, emails and other project and administration documents residing in a corporate network of more than 5 million data files.

 

Internal company study finds Enterprise Search to yield high ROI

Information access and retrieval represents a significant challenge to any large corporation – especially as employees struggle with the burdening amounts of data in the corporate network. Norconsult evaluated the business potential prior to purchasing their information access solution.

 

- Norconsult has conducted an internal study that concludes that employees on average spend 10-15 minutes per day on finding their own emails and documents. Information produced by others comes in addition to these numbers. We have large expectations to this Enterprise Search project – and how it will improve collaboration in the company. We expect this project to yield a high ROI compared to other IT-projects, said CIO Bård Hernes, Norconsult.

 

Norconsult also views the search platform as a cost-effective tool in their efforts to integrate acquired companies. During the last 3 years Norconsult acquired 25 companies with different IT-platform compared to Norconsult’s standard corporate platform. All newly acquired companies will use the corporate standard whilst access to historical legacy systems will be provided through making these searchable from the IntelliSearch Enterprise platform.
